Looking north towards Ngaruhoe (in the clouds) and Pukekaikiore.
Both Lower and Upper Tama Lakes occupy explosion craters that
formed approximately 10,000 years ago. They have no surface outlets.
From this point allow 2 hours return for a side trip to the Upper
