"Fiordland National Park is a world heritage area and is home to some of the worlds most dramatic and untouched scenery. The main center of Fiordland is the resort town of Te Anau, lying at the foot of Lake Te Anau. Te Anau is the gateway to Fiordland and is the start of the road which leads to the famous Milford Sound. From Te Anau you can also travel to Manapouri, and then on to Doubtful Sound - ""The Sound of Silence"". Scenic boat trips are available on both sounds. Visitors to Fiordland have a huge range of attractions to choose from - scenic flights, launch cruises, kayaking, diving, hiking tracks and fishing to mention a few."
Fiordland Underwater Comments "This is a test site about the amazing flora and fauna of New Zealand's Fiordland. A region of towering peaks, heavy rain, steep fiords and a unique ecology. It is an anomaly that this unique marine environment is not actually in Fiordland National Park. This stems from an era when only land based conservation was seen as important whereas today we take a far broader ecosystem approach."
