The Department of Conservation operates in partnership with other members of the community in several areas:

Organisations designed to act as intermediaries between the Department and the community:

  • The New Zealand Conservation Authority
  • Conservation boards

Conservation Education, with in particular:

  • Conservation events organised by the Department
  • Conservation Awards presented annually by the Department
  • Conservation Volunteers

Funding or joint action in other programmes or conservation organisations, with in particular:

  • Forest Heritage Fund
  • Nga Whenua Rahui
  • Tu Kakariki - The New Zealand Tree programme
  • Project Crimson Trust
  • Historic Places Trust
  • Fish and Game councils
  • Queen Elizabeth the Second National Trust
